NEW ORLEANS, June 17 (UPI) --
The highest-ranking enlisted soldier in the Louisiana National Guard was removed from active duty after being accused of sexual harassment, an official said.
Sgt. Maj. Tommy Caillier was removed Friday "for cause" after "substantiated allegations" of sexual harassment and possible sexual assault reported by a member of the National Guard, CNN quoted spokesman Lt. Col Mike Kazmierzak as saying.
A criminal investigation is under way, and Caillier has asked for defense counsel from the National Guard, Kazmierzak said.
