Skydiver falls to death in Texas

ROSHARON, Texas, June 15 (UPI) -- A veteran skydiver experienced a parachute malfunction in Texas Saturday and plummeted to his death, authorities said.

The 36-year-old man, whose name had not been released, was making his fourth jump of the day at Skydive Spaceland in Rosharon when the accident occurred, the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office told KTRK-TV, Houston.

Officials said he cut away from his primary parachute, but was unable to open his reserve chute.
