Inspector general allegedly hid misconduct

WASHINGTON, June 14 (UPI) -- The House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman accused the inspector general's office of not informing Congress about alleged improper conduct, a letter states.

In the letter addressed to Deputy Inspector General Harold Geisel, Chairman Ed Royce criticizes the agency for not including misconduct allegations in a February report.

The allegations include eight cases of State Department officials sleeping with prostitutes, The Hill said.

"The final version of the report submitted to Congress in February 2013 was bereft of any reference to these specific cases," Royce wrote to Geisel. "According to reports, some or all of these omissions came at the behest of senior State Department officials."
