Woman breaks feet when she jumps off roof and misses pool

PHOENIX, June 6 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old woman from Phoenix says she broke both of her feet and suffered other injuries when she tried to jump from her roof into a pool, but fell short.

Nicole, who declined to give her last name, said she made the jump about a month ago, KPHO-TV, Phoenix, reported Wednesday.

"I felt numbness to my whole body. I mean, the impact. Then I screamed and went to the hospital," Nicole said of when she hit concrete instead of water.

She said she broke both of her heels and sustained other injuries.

"I guess I exploded my cartilage. So [doctors] have to puzzle-piece it back together," Nicole said.

The entire incident was recorded and Nicole uploaded the video to YouTube so she could show it to relatives who wanted to know how she injured herself.

Then, Nicole's mother posted the video to GoFundMe.com in hopes of raising some funds for her daughter's living expenses while she recovers. The video received a number of negative comments, prompting Nicole's mother removed the video from the website.

"It's my mom. She meant well," said Nicole. "She didn't want to see me lose [my home]. She didn't want to see my dreams go down the drain because I broke both my feet."
