NEW YORK, June 6 (UPI) -- New York City prosecutors allege a street performer busted for making anti-Semitic remarks also tried to extort $2 million from the Girl Scouts.
Dan Sandler, who yelled anti-Semitic comments while dressed as Elmo in September, appeared in court Wednesday on grand larceny, aggravated harassment and stalking charges, to which he pleaded not guilty, the New York Daily News reported.
Sandler, who did some work for the Girl Scouts through a temp agency, allegedly told the Girl Scouts he would go public with allegations the organization arranged sex between men and young girls at scout camp if he was not paid the money.
He was arrested Tuesday in San Francisco.
Sandler allegedly sent threatening emails to officials with the Girls Scouts, the New York Post reported.
"I will show up at Girl Scout functions and other places that parents and kids congregate and hold signs, connecting the Girl Scouts with the Cambodian Rape Camp man," he wrote, referencing an online live-porn series called "Welcome to the Rape Camp" that he was arrested for making in 1999.
Sandler was being held on $200,000 bail.
