WASHINGTON, June 4 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama visited with wounded soldiers at a Washington-area hospital Tuesday.

"During his visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center today, the president met with 21 wounded service members -- 13 Army, six Marines, one Navy and one Air Force," a White House official said.

The presidential aide said Obama did not bestow any Purple Hearts to the injured soldiers during his approximately 1 1/2-hour visit to the military hospital in Bethesda, Md.
