OXON HILL, Md., May 30 (UPI) -- Thirteen-year-old Arvind Mahankali of Bayside Hills, N.Y., won the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday when he correctly spelled "knaidel."
Mahankali won the top honors in the 86th annual competition held in Oxon Hill, Md., in his fourth try at the national level, NPR reported. He came in third the past two years and ninth in 2010.
