PHILADELPHIA, May 30 (UPI) -- A young woman found dead in a bathtub in the home of the prominent Philadelphia lawyer who employed her probably drowned accidentally, officials say.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Wednesday two law enforcement officials say Julia Papazian Law, 26, probably suffered a seizure. She was discovered by a maintenance man Saturday morning.
Law was a paralegal for A. Charles Peruto Jr., one of the city's best-known lawyers. While Peruto has said she was his girlfriend, her stepfather, Joe Casella, said she was in the aftermath of a long-term relationship with someone else.
The law enforcement officials said there were no signs of violence or foul play in the condo. Peruto said he was on the Jersey Shore Friday night, although he exchanged text messages with Law.
While investigators are still waiting for the results of toxicology tests, the liquor cabinet in the condo was closed, and Law had froth around her lips, suggesting a seizure, police said.
Law graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia and had worked for Peruto's firm for two years. Jack Maxwell, who teaches criminal justice at Drexel, said Law was in several of his classes.
"If you started a sentence and asked a question, she'd be the first to answer," Maxwell said. "She was one of those students you remember."
