Bikers lead N.J. troopers on 40-mile chase

NEWARK, N.J., May 20 (UPI) -- A group of 15 motorcyclists was arrested in New Jersey after leading troopers on a lengthy chase, police said.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, a trooper was patrolling the New Jersey Turnpike in Newark when he noticed a chain of motorcycles, one of which didn't have a license plate. The trooper attempted to pull over the driver but the other bikers encircled the driver, blocking the trooper's access, The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger said.

The chase went on for nearly 40 miles until the bikers pulled over in Cranbury, N.J. Once there, all 15 were arrested and charged with eluding arrest and hindering arrest.

Two of the bikers were found to have handguns and face additional weapons possession charges.
