Fort Campbell officer accused of harassment

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky., May 17 (UPI) -- The officer in charge of Fort Campbell's sexual harassment prevention program was arrested for allegedly threatening his ex-wife, the U.S. Army said.

Lt. Col. Darren Haas was free on bond Friday following his arrest at the Kentucky base by civilian police after he allegedly sent threatening text messages to his ex-wife in violation of a court order.

Haas, 42, had already put in for retirement before his arrest, the Army told Stars and Stripes late Thursday.

The (Clarksville, Tenn.) Chronicle said the Army planned to wait until the civilian police investigation into the alleged incident was completed before making any decisions on pursuing military charges.

Another officer has been assigned to Haas' job as manager of Fort Campbell's Sexual Harassment and Assault Response Prevention/Equal Opportunity office.

Haas' arrest was the third incident in recent days involving allegations of improper behavior toward women by senior officers and enlisted men.
