Hearing canceled for bombing suspect's friends

May 14, 2013 at 4:29 PM

BOSTON, May 14 (UPI) -- A court hearing for two former students from Kazakhstan charged as accessories in the Boston Marathon bombings was canceled Tuesday.

Lawyers for Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov, both 19 and both residents of New Bedford, requested a probable cause hearing be postponed, the Boston Globe reported, citing court documents. No new date was set.

Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov became friends with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.

Tsarnaev allegedly carried out the bombing with his brother, Tamerlan, 26, who was killed during a police pursuit.

Tsarnaev allegedly got his friends to remove items from his dorm room at UMass, including a laptop and fireworks.
