TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 14 (UPI) -- A man convicted in a series of rapes and murders in Florida has been scheduled for execution next month, officials say.

Gov. Rick Scott's office said Marshall Lee Gore, 49, has been set to die June 24, The Miami Herald reported Monday.

Gore is on death row for the slayings of two women. He was convicted of raping, stabbing and strangling Robyn Novick, a 30-year-old exotic dancer from south Florida, in March 1988. He also was found guilty in the 1990 murder of Susan Roark, a Tennessee woman whose body was found in north Florida.

He also is serving five life sentences and three 30-year prison terms for beating raping and stabbing another exotic dancer in south Florida in 1988. She survived.

In 1998, the Florida Supreme Court overturned Gore's conviction, ruling the prosecutor had acted improperly by taunting Gore and telling the jury "he deserved to die."

Gore was retried, convicted and sentenced to death in 1999.
