ATLANTA, May 11 (UPI) -- A Georgia woman said she was bitten by a police dog inside the Atlanta airport while waiting for her sister in the baggage claim area.

Susan Dubitsky told WSB-TV, Atlanta, she had done nothing to disturb the drug- and bomb-sniffing long-haired German shepherd Thursday. As the dog and its handler moved past her it latched on to her stomach.

"When the dog swished by me, he reached over grabbed my skin. It hurt, it hurt. More than just the bite, I felt the pull of the skin as the handler was pulling it back his teeth were still there," Dubitsky said.

After paramedics bandaged the wound the woman asked the Atlanta police officer handling the dog what prompted it to pounce.

"[The officer] said it could have been her clothes, she was wearing a blue top, sometimes the wind blows, that could have attracted the dog," her husband John Dubitsky said.

Susan Dubitsky said she thinks the canines should be muzzled when in public.

"If there was child in this area, it could have really hurt that child," she said.

Both the Atlanta police, whose officer handles the dog, and the Transportation Security Administration, which owns the dog, have opened investigations into the incident.
