State revises citations, fines against Disneyland

ANAHEIM, Calif., May 9 (UPI) -- California state regulators have withdrawn some citations made against Disneyland over safety requirements for crews working on the ride Space Mountain.

Last month, the amusement park was issued six citations for six safety violations and a fine of $234,850 by the state Division of Occupational Safety and Health, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The citations and fines were issued following an investigation into a maintenance worker who fell in November while cleaning the outside of Space Mountain.

However, on Wednesday the showed only four citations made against Disneyland and a fine of $82,025.

Under state law, businesses are allowed to either appeal citations issued by DOSH or hold informal settlement discussions.

Disney representatives have not commented on the revised fines but have said that Space Mountain was closed for three weeks following the investigation to make safety improvements.
