Fla. woman arrested for stealing cemetery statues, planters

ST. CLOUD, Fla., May 9 (UPI) -- A St. Cloud, Fla., woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing more than 100 decorative items from a cemetery and placing them in her yard, police said.

Debra A. Farinella, 57, is suspected of stealing statues, planters, decorations and lights from Mt. Peace Cemetery and displaying them in the back yard of her Vermont Street home, WKMG-TV, Orlando, reported.

"Stuff had been taken off and I replaced it and within two days it would be gone again," victim Pam Neal, who works for code enforcement at the St. Cloud Police Department, told the TV station. "Now that she's caught I don't have to worry anymore, I can go buy stuff and not worry about it being stolen again."

Six people had contacted police to report items were stolen from the cemetery. Anyone missing items can call the St. Cloud Police Department to reclaim them.

Farinella was being held in the Osceola County Jail and faced grand theft charges.
