Body on Kansas farm ID'd as mother of missing toddler

OTTAWA, Kan., May 8 (UPI) -- One of three bodies found on a Kansas farm has been identified as a young mother whose daughter is missing, a family member said Wednesday.

The bodies of two men and a woman were discovered on the farm near Ottawa, Kan., The Kansas City Star reported. Andy Pettijohn of Olathe said he was told in early afternoon that the woman was his granddaughter, Kaylie Bailey, 21.

"We're grieving for our granddaughter," he said. "And now we don't know where our great-granddaughter is. She hasn't been found dead or alive. We hope she's found alive somewhere."

Bailey's car was found Tuesday evening in Emporia, police said. Police said they also found a person they want to interview.

Lana Bailey, 18 months, remains missing.

Relatives said Kaylie Bailey, who had been living with family in Olathe, went to the farm last week to visit Andrew Stout, a friend who lived there.

Some friends found her body Monday, police said. They originally went to the farm Sunday because they were worried about Stout and called police after smelling an odor of decay. Investigators concluded the smell was from trash, but the friends, still worried, decided to take another look Monday and found a woman's body hidden under canvas.
