WORCESTER, Mass., May 7 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts resident who has admitted trying to arrange the kidnapping of a child had a soundproof child's dungeon in his home, investigators say.

Geoffrey Portway, 40, of Worcester, a British national, pleaded guilty Monday to soliciting a kidnapping and distributing child pornography, The Boston Globe reported.

Under his plea bargain with federal prosecutors, Portway faces 216 to 327 months in prison, followed by supervised release for the rest of his life and deportation from the United States.

Investigators said they found a child-size coffin with locks on the outside in Portway's dungeon when they searched his home. He was arrested as part of an investigation into Internet chats about kidnapping, killing and eating children. Bruce Foucart of the Department of Homeland Security in Boston said the investigation began in Massachusetts and expanded into other countries.

Sentencing has been scheduled for Aug. 2.
