BIG BEAR, Calif., May 7 (UPI) -- Three hikers, missing since Saturday in California's San Bernardino Mountains, were found safe Tuesday near Big Bear, Calif., police said.

David Yoder, 43, Ryan Shankles, 41, and Miguel De La Torre, all of Oceanside, Calif., were located by a San Bernardino County sheriff's helicopter Tuesday morning near the Mineshaft Campground, a sheriff's news release said.

The three appeared to be in good condition, authorities said.

The men had set out on an all-day hike Saturday with a fourth friend, who decided to turn back after several hours. When the trip didn't return Saturday night, the fourth member of their party notified police, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, said.

About 40 search-and-rescue personnel, involving a search dog, riders on horseback, Citizen Patrol units and a sheriff's helicopter were involved in the search, the sheriff's department said.
