PHOENIX, May 6 (UPI) -- Jurors in the Phoenix murder trial of Jodi Arias adjourned Monday afternoon without reaching a verdict.

The panel will return to work at 10 a.m. Tuesday, KPHO-TV, Phoenix, reported.

The jury received the case Friday after a sensational, four-month trial. If convicted of murdering her former boyfriend, Travis Alexander, Arias faces a potential death sentence or life in prison, KPHO-TV said.

The trial's emphasis has been on Arias and her life, but Sunday evening a vigil was held for Alexander, attracting dozens to Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza in Phoenix and focusing on his life and aspirations, KPHO-TV said.

"He was a very giving person, and thoughtful, and always wanted to make sure he left people better than when he met them," said Clancy Talbot, a friend of Alexander.

"He was just full of energy and enthusiasm and adventuresome spirit," said Dave Hall, who said he was a friend of Alexander's for seven years. "We lost a great person."

Asked Talbot what Arias' verdict should be, she quickly answered, "The death penalty, first degree."
