TRENTON, N.J., May 1 (UPI) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday released his re-election campaign's first ad, which trumpets the Republican leader's bipartisanship.

The 60-second ad, "Jersey Proud," airs in the New York and Philadelphia markets, with a $1.2 million buy, Politico reported.

The ad highlights Christies "tough decisions to get New Jersey back on track," through cutting taxes and spending, reducing the size of government so it runs more efficiently and working with Democrats and Republicans, "believing that as long as you stick to your principles, 'compromise' isn't a dirty word."

The campaign said in a news release that the ad notes how, because the state was overtaxed and stretched too thin by overspending, New Jersey "had lost faith and optimism in the future of their state."

Campaign manager Bill Stepien said in the release, "Four years ago, New Jerseyans elected Governor Christie to do the tough, necessary things to shake up Trenton, restore fiscal responsibility, and bring New Jersey back from the brink of catastrophe."

Stepien said Christie has "restored New Jerseyans' faith in their state and their government."
