Obama: Senate immigration bill meets basic criteria

April 30, 2013 at 11:30 AM   |   Comments

WASHINGTON, April 30 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama said Tuesday immigration reform legislation introduced in the Senate meets his basic criteria.

At a White House news conference, Obama said there are things in the bill he would like to change but overall is acceptable.

Obama said he will be open-minded about what House Republicans produce in answer, but any legislation will have to meet his basic criteria.

Obama said among other things, legislation has to provide a pathway to citizenship for those already in the United States.
