NEW YORK, April 30 (UPI) -- U.S. domestic diva Martha Stewart said she signed up for online dating because she was lonely and looking for love.

"I'd like to have breakfast with somebody. I'd like to go to bed with somebody -- sleep with somebody -- that's better to say," the 71-year-old divorced founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. told NBC's "Today" program.

Among the men Stewart has dated are actor Anthony Hopkins and software billionaire Charles Simonyi.

She once told "The Howard Stern Show" she ended the brief Hopkins relationship after seeing "The Silence of the Lambs" because she couldn't stop associating Hopkins with the cannibalistic serial-killer character of Hannibal Lecter.

"Oh, I loved him," she told the program in 2006, "but he was ... scary. I was going to invite him up to Maine. I have this beautiful home in Maine ... but then I reconsidered because I saw that movie again.

"Do you want someone eating your brain while you are sitting in your beautiful dining room in Maine?" she said.

Her 15-year relationship with Simonyi, a software executive who years earlier oversaw the creation of Microsoft Office for Microsoft Corp., ended in 2008. Simonyi is married to Lisa Persdotter, the daughter of a Swedish millionaire.

When asked on "Today" if she wanted to get married, Stewart said, "Depends," and then said it again, without offering what it depends on.

With the help of Match.com Chief Executive Officer Sam Yagan, Stewart completed a dating profile on the show.

"You may recognize me from my pictures. Yes, it's really me," she writes on the dating website.

"I've been curious about online dating for a long time, but, like lots of people, have been reluctant to take the leap," her profile says.

In addition to cooking, dining out and travel, she includes "fishing/hunting" in her list of interests, and says she's a fan of "the symphony, opera & rap."

A Leo, Martha says she would define herself this way: "Curious about everything. Love learning. An adventurous spirit."
