SANTA ROSA, Calif., April 29 (UPI) -- Three divers died in separate incidents along the coast of Northern California, officials said.

The three deaths happened within 24 hours in Sonoma and Mendocino counties, KTVU-TV, Oakland, reported.

On Saturday afternoon, the body of Cedric Collett, 66, was found near Shell Beach in Sonoma County. He was diving with a friend who ran for help after Collett, a retired firefighter from Pacifica, did not resurface.

Then, Sunday morning, a 36-year-old San Francisco man got caught in a rip tide in Sonoma County and drowned. Later, a third diver's body was found north of Fort Bragg.

The names of the two divers who died Sunday were not released.
