GARDEN GROVE, Calif., April 29 (UPI) -- A California woman was convicted Monday of drugging her estranged husband, and cutting off his penis then mutilating it in a garbage disposal.
Catherine Kieu, 50, of Garden Grove was convicted of aggravated mayhem and torture for the July 2011 attack, KNBC-TV, Los Angeles, reported.
Prosecutors said Kieu attacked her 60-year-old husband, identified as "Glen B," after they argued about a friend possibly coming to stay at their house. The couple were in the midst of a divorce but were still living together.
Authorities said after lacing his meal with a sleep aid, Kieu tied him to a bed. When he awoke, she pulled down his pants, held his penis and cut it off with a knife.
She allegedly threw it in the garbage disposal and turned the disposal on, authorities said. It was damaged too severely to be reattached.
Kieu's attorneys said her husband of 16 months was a sexual brute who forced her to have sex with him, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles reported during the trial.
