SAVANNAH, Ga., April 29 (UPI) -- Country singer Billy Currington was indicted on charges of terrorizing an elderly man on an island near Savannah, Ga., a Georgia prosecutor said.

The Grammy-nominated artist -- whose No. 1 hits "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right," "People Are Crazy," "That's How Country Boys Roll" and "Pretty Good at Drinkin' Beer" -- was indicted by a county grand jury Thursday for allegedly "making terroristic threats and abuse of an elder person," causing "mental anguish" on the 70-year-old man and threatening "to cause unlawful bodily harm."

Each charge is a felony punishable by one to five years in prison. He was released from a Georgia jail after posting a $27,700 bond.

Currington is scheduled for arraignment May 28.

North Carolina's Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina said Friday that because of the indictment it was replacing Currington as the pre-race act at May 18's NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Country singer-songwriter Josh Turner, whose single "Time Is Love" was last year's No. 1 country hit, will do the pre-race concert instead of Currington, the speedway said.
