A telephone tip late Tuesday led to the arrest and Mexican police handed Summers to U.S. authorities in San Diego Wednesday.

Prosecutors charged Summers this month with kidnapping, burglary and nearly three dozen counts of sexual assault. Officials said he will be held in lieu of $19 million bail.

Summers allegedly broke into the girl's home March 27 and abduct the girl at knife point.

The victim told police Summers took her to several different locations, including a vacant house and a storage facility, where she was allegedly assaulted.

Police found the girl 12 hours later in a nearby parking lot.

If convicted, Summers faces multiple life terms in prison, KTLA-TV said.
