Three arrested in Florida 'felony lane' burglaries

April 24, 2013 at 4:26 PM

CASSELBERRY, Fla., April 24 (UPI) -- Three men were arrested by Casselberry, Fla., police, accused of participating in a statewide car-burglary ring based in South Florida, officials said.

After patrons of a Casselberry fitness center reported their vehicles had been burglarized Tuesday, police chased and caught up with the suspects, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Wednesday.

Ench Smith, 33, Guercy Smith, 26, and Traver Paul, 19, were arrested and charged with the crimes, police documents said.

They are allegedly members of a ring of burglars, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who target gyms, parks and businesses to smash vehicle windows, then grab wallets and purses to obtain financial information to steal identities, write phony checks and withdraw money from the furthest drive-through lane, known as "felony lane," the newspaper said.
