SACRAMENTO, April 24 (UPI) -- California Gov. Jerry Brown, speaking at a gathering to remember crime victims, said his Sacramento home was broken into earlier this week.

Brown told the audience Tuesday he was not at home when a man attempted to enter the residence on the fourth floor of a loft building in downtown Sacramento, adding the suspect was arrested after he broke into the building Sunday evening, got onto the roof and jumped onto Brown's balcony, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday.

A neighbor called police and the man was arrested, Brown said.

Sacramento police said the man, Jamal Johnson, 26, was arrested for prowling.

Brown added, during the gathering, three men attempted to break into his Oakland residence a year ago.
