Body recovered of missing boy who drowned in Florida

LONGBOAT KEY, Fla., April 22 (UPI) -- The body of a 6-year-old boy who disappeared while swimming on Anna Maria Island, Fla., during the weekend has been recovered, police said.

Bradenton Beach Police Chief Sam Speciale notified the mother of Lamontea Taylor Monday her son's drowned body was found by Florida Fish and Wildlife officials, the (Sarasota, Fla.) Herald-Tribune reported.

The boy's brother, 15, saw him and several cousins struggling offshore Saturday when they were supposed to be at the beach's playground, the newspaper said, adding rip currents swept the children south toward Longboat Pass, a quarter-mile strait between Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key, is off-limits to swimmers.
