John White, 55, will be required to serve at least 56 years under a plea agreement, UpNorthLive.com reported Thursday.
He pleaded guilty to bludgeoning Rebekah Gay, 24, Oct. 31 and dumping her body in a nearby ditch. Police said White told investigators the killing was part of a sexual fantasy, the report said.
White served a prison sentence for stabbing a woman in 1980 and another sentence for killing a woman in 1994, The Detroit News reported.
He became a pastor of Christ Community Fellowship four years after he was released from his second prison term in 2007, the newspaper said.
Police said White had consumed several 24-ounce cans of beer before going to his victim's home at 2 a.m. and entering through an unlocked door. After bludgeoning her, he strangled her and took her body in his pickup truck to a wooded area about a mile away where he dumped her, investigators said.
