NEWPORT NEWS, Va., April 17 (UPI) -- Classes at Virginia's Christopher Newport University were canceled after firefighters responded to five bathroom fires in 5 hours, the school said.

The fires at the Newport News, Va., college all occurred Tuesday afternoon, and Tuesday evening classes were canceled, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported. Classes resumed Wednesday, the school's website indicated.

The fires were considered suspicious, and state police were investigating, the newspaper added.

No injuries were reported, and damage was minimal, the university said.
