GERMANTOWN, Md., April 9 (UPI) -- Investigators in Maryland say they believe an Army sergeant shot and killed a teenage girl planning to enlist and then killed himself.
Police in Montgomery County identified the victims found Monday as Staff Sgt. Adam Anthony Arndt, 31, of Germantown and Michelle Miller, 17, of nearby Rockville, The (Gaithersburg) Gazette reported. The shootings occurred in Arndt's residence, the newspaper said.
Officers went to the home shortly before 9 a.m. looking for a missing juvenile they had been told may have been at the address, Angela Cruz, a spokeswoman for the county police department, said.
Investigators said Miller and Arndt knew each other because Miller planned to enlist in the U.S. Army Reserves after graduating from high school.
