The 225-page report, compiled by former Republican congressman and former Drug Enforcement Agency head Asa Hutchinson, and its 20-page summary, were available on the NRA and National School Shield websites Tuesday afternoon.
The most notable of the report's eight recommendations is a fuller articulation of the NRA's proposal, following the December 2012 shootings in a Newtown, Conn., elementary school, to place armed security in every school in the United States, NBC News said.
It also offers a model training program for school resource officers that, after training, would allow them to carry firearms in schools. Other proposals include the development of improved security plans and greater coordination between government and schools to fund programs.
