WASHINGTON, April 1 (UPI) -- The annual White House Easter Egg Roll rolled on Monday without a hitch, unless you count President Barack Obama's 2-for-22 showing on the basketball court.

"[We] want you to have a great time. We want you to run around. We want you to go over and see the White House Garden," first lady Michelle Obama told the crowd. "We want you to learn about making tasty, healthy food. We're going to come down and do some Easter egg roll. We're going to read some stories. But overall, we want you guys to have a good time and keep moving and be healthy."

Among thousands of families at White House were some from Newtown, Conn., site of the elementary school massacre in December. The White House confirmed some families were attending the festivities, but didn't provide details.

The first lady said more than 30,000 people were expected to participate in this year's celebration of nutrition and health and activity.

President Obama found no love on the basketball court, where children and several NBA stars were camped out.

Obama shot. He didn't score. Often.

Of 22 shots (a consensus by observers), Obama made two.

At one point, asking for help, Obama handed a ball to a boy -- who boy made a layup.

"He couldn't make one," said Kahron Campbell, 10, of Landover, Md. "I had to help him out."
