Teen charged in Nevada freeway crash

LAS VEGAS, March 31 (UPI) -- A Nevada teenager has been charged with drunken driving in a crash outside Las Vegas that claimed five lives.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said Sunday Jean Soriano, 18, was booked into a Clark County jail after being treated for injuries suffered in the wreck on Interstate 15 near Mesquite early Saturday.

Officers told the Las Vegas Sun Soriano rear-ended a van around 3 a.m. MDT, causing the van to spin out and eject five of its seven passengers.

The two survivors, including the driver, were hospitalized in critical condition.

All of the victims were from California.
