BRIDGEWATER, Va., March 31 (UPI) -- The owner of a 600 foot long structure housing chickens in Bridgewater, Va., said 37,000 chicks were killed when the building burned down this weekend.

The fire was reported about 5 a.m. EDT Saturday at a farm owned by Shawn Rhodes.

Rockingham County Fire Chief Jeremy Holloway said the chicken house was almost gone when firefighters arrived at the scene, WHSV-TV, Harrisonburg, Va.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. Holloway said he believes the fire originated in a room where a computer system that runs the facility's heater is kept.

No injuries were reported.

Rhodes said he will get busy Monday, cleaning up and then will "try to build it back."
