Winnetka Police Chief Patrick Kreis said Silverstein allegedly stabbed another 17-year-old boy in the chest with an illegal switchblade. A 16-year-old boy who tried to pull Silverstein away from the victim was cut on his hand.

Police said the stabbing came during an argument over an iPhone that did not belong to Silverstein, but did not provide further details.

The 17-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with a serious chest wound, but was suspected to survive, Kreis said. The 16-year-old was also treated at a hospital and has since been released.

Kreis said Silverstein will be tried as an adult.
