NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 28 (UPI) -- A 10-year-old Northridge, Calif., girl who disappeared from her home Wednesday night was found in a parking lot hours later with cuts and bruises, police said.
Police said they were looking for two men they think were involved in the incident, as well as trying to determine who dropped her off and how she may have left or been lured from her home, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.
"I've got a young lady that was abducted. I don't know the reason," said Los Angeles Police Department Capt. William P. Hayes.
The child was spotted in a Woodland Hills parking lot several hours after she was taken during the night. Police said they believe the girl was left at a hospital parking lot six miles from her home and was recognized by a bystander, who contacted police.
"We don't know what happened inside of the house," said Los Angeles police Cmdr. Andy Smith. "But it certainly would appear that she didn't make it from her house over here a distance of some six miles all by herself."
Police said the girl had cuts and bruises. The Times said video shot by a news helicopter indicated she was barefoot and wearing clothing different from what she wore when she was last seen.
The man who spotted the girl as he was going to a gas station said the child looked drained.
"Her face was white. She looked very tired and worried," Nicolas Jackson, told the Times. "You could see she had some worries for the past few hours."
