AKRON, Ohio, March 21 (UPI) -- An Ohio man who assaulted his next-door neighbor with a high-pressure power washer was sentenced to six months in jail and fined $43,000.
Visiting Judge Richard Reinbold sentenced Edwin Heatherly, 71, Wednesday after a guilty plea to one count of felonious assault in Summit County Court.
Prosecutors said Heatherly was using a power washer to clean a backyard grill in June.
"His next-door neighbor of 30 years became upset because grime from the grill was coming over the fence onto his house. The victim attempted to get Heatherly's attention, but was having trouble because he (the victim) is deaf and mute. He sprayed his (garden) hose at Heatherly in an attempt to get his attention," the prosecutor's press statement read.
Heatherly then aimed the power washer at his neighbor, its water pressure cutting the victim's hands, arms, chin, neck and head and prompting severe bleeding, the (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Thursday.
