Ex-Titans cheerleader charged with rape

MURFREESBORO, Tenn., March 21 (UPI) -- A former Tennessee Titans cheerleader for the has been charged with molesting a 12-year-old boy at a friend's home in Murfreesboro.

A grand jury indicted Elizabeth Leigh Garner this week on charges including sexual battery and solicitation of a minor. Garner denies the charge, WTVF-TV, Nashville, reported Wednesday.

Garner allegedly followed the boy into a bathroom and fondled him.

A police report states she said she was drunk and confused the boy with a man who was also at the house.

"That's just absolutely no excuse for sexual assaulting a child. If you can't tell the difference between a 12-year-old and an adult then there are problems," said Kyle Evans, a spokesman for the Murfreesboro Police Department.

Garner was released on $30,000 bail.

When Garner joined the Titans cheerleading squad in 2008, she was hailed as a 38-year-old able to compete with women more than a decade younger. She is now 42 and no longer with the team.
