School investigating nude photo sharing

RIDGEWOOD, N.J., March 15 (UPI) -- A New Jersey high school is investigating the distribution of nude photos of some students among their peers, authorities said.

Students at Ridgewood High School are allegedly using photo-sharing social networks, such as Instagram and Snapchat, to send illicit photographs of other students, NJ.com reported.

"It has come to our attention that some of our Ridgewood High School students may be engaging in this improper behavior," Superintendent Daniel Fishbein wrote in a letter to parents about the investigation. "This matter is a serious issue that demands a prompt and appropriate response."

The situation involves a number of female students who sent naked pictures of themselves to at least one male student, who then disbursed them among his peers.

The superintendent said the incident happened off school grounds and was "under an active police investigation."
