TOOELE, Utah, March 14 (UPI) -- A Utah couple were arrested for allegedly robbing a bank and bringing their kids along and leaving them alone in the getaway car, police said.

The couple, whose names were not reported, were arrested Monday in Tooele at a traffic stop shortly after they allegedly robbed a Wells Fargo bank in the town, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

An arrest report from the incident states that a police officer watched from across the street as a woman got out of a suspicious blue car and enter the bank.

Once inside, the woman allegedly handed a bank teller a note that read: "No silent alarms, Be Quiet! Loose Bills. Hurry. Sorry... I don't want anyone to get hurt."

The woman fled the bank with $956 and got into the car, which witnesses said the husband was driving.

The officer who witnessed the incident from across the street followed the car and eventually pulled it over.

When police approached the couples' car, two young children, ages 2 and 5, were sitting in the back seat.

While being questioned by police, the couple allegedly said they robbed the bank because they faced eviction from their home, had mounting medical bills and had fallen into debt.

Both suspects are 27 years old, police said.
