When the incident at Centerpointe Christian Preschool in Pleasanton occurred was not clear.

Officials at Centerpointe Presbyterian Church, which operates the school, reported it after co-workers of the woman, who had since left the school, showed them the picture at a social gathering March 1, KCBS-TV reported Tuesday.

Those at the gathering included the girl's mother.

Mike Barris, a church pastor, said he was "horrified" by the report.

Church officials said they sent a detailed letter about the incident to the parents of children at the preschool and plan to suspend school operations for five days to retrain staff.
