[VIDEO] Child, 2, recorded taking bong hit

CENTRALIA, Wash., March 12 (UPI) -- A Washington state mother is in jail after cellphone video of her toddler taking a hit from a lit bong made its way to police, detectives said.

Rachelle Braaten, 24, was home when her 22-month-old son put his mouth on the top if a lit bong in front of a cellphone camera, KOMO-TV, Seattle, said Tuesday. When it was sent to police, detectives confronted the woman, who said she felt "horrible."

"I guess it was a joke and stupid mistake that wasn't really funny," a police report quotes her as saying.

She is charged with manufacture of marijuana and delivery of a controlled substance to a minor.

The woman's fiance, Tyler Lee, also faces legal scrutiny after child welfare agents checking on the children found 40 marijuana plants growing in the couple's Centralia, Wash., home. Lee allegedly admitted he grows pot to sell to a dispensary illegally.

Lee said he was not home at the time the video of his son was taken.

Lee remains free pending official charges. Braaten is being held in lieu of $5,000. The toddler and another child, 5, are in foster care, police said.
