Teacher caught fleeing porn conviction

PORTLAND, Ore., March 12 (UPI) -- A former Oregon teacher convicted on child pornography charges was captured in Mexico after fleeing authorities, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Logan Storm, a teacher at Stoller Middle School in Beaverton, Ore., was convicted of child pornography possession Jan. 29 in federal court. Despite knowing he had already once fled to Europe, a judge allowed Storm to remain free pending sentencing April 30. Storm cut off an ankle bracelet monitoring device and bailed just hours after his conviction.

Marshals said they found his car abandoned in Los Angeles with the license plates removed. KATU-TV, Portland, Ore., said Tuesday Mexican authorities located Storm and have him in custody, pending his extradition back to the United States.

In an unrelated case, Storm is also charged with inappropriately touching two girls younger than 14 at a public swimming pool in 2007, prosecutors said.
