7 injured in shootings in Kansas City, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 11 (UPI) -- Seven people, including one juvenile, were injured in two shootings in Kansas City, Mo., prompting calls for a solution to violence in the city.

Both shootings happened early Sunday; one at an all-ages dance club where five people, including at least one juvenile, were shot, The Kansas City Star reported.

The other shooting happened in a gas station parking lot and left two people wounded.

Both incidents started as arguments and escalated into shootings

Police were investigating both incidents; it was not reported whether anyone was arrested in either case.

"We live in a time that is more violent," said Danny Rotert, communications director for Kansas City Mayor Sly James. "We don't want to tell kids they can't hang out with each other. But there continues to be this issue."
