Woman arrested in Parks & Rec shooting

SEATTLE, March 8 (UPI) -- A female Seattle Parks and Recreation worker suspected of critically wounding a man in a shooting at a department office Friday was later arrested, police said.

Carolyn Piksa, 47, allegedly shot Bill Keller, 70, with a handgun shortly before 2 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation's Green Lake office and fled in a pickup truck before police arrived,KIRO-TV, Seattle, reported. She allegedly went to another facility and brandished a gun at a woman before leaving, the TV station said.

Piksa was arrested at 4:50 p.m. in Burien, about 17.5 miles away from the shooting scene.

An official at Harborview Medical Center told KIRO-TV Keller, executive director of the Associated Recreation Council, was hospitalized in critical-but-stable condition with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The Seattle mayor's office closed all community centers, pools and parks facilities for the day after the shooting.
