ATLANTA, March 6 (UPI) -- The pink .38-caliber pistol with which an Atlanta teenager accidentally shot herself outside Grady High School was stolen, police said.

Morgan Tukes, 17, was charged with a felony, possession of a gun by a minor and three misdemeanors last Thursday. Police officer John Chafee told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the discovery that the weapon she allegedly used on herself had been reported stolen is likely to mean additional charges.

Investigators say Tukes shot herself in the thigh in the school's courtyard Thursday morning, WSB-TV, Atlanta, reported. She then walked into the clinic at the school. She was arrested that day and released on bail Friday evening.

The handgun's serial numbers had been filed down, the TV station said.

Tukes faces additional charges arising from a hit-and-run crash last fall.
