Man charged with murdering rapper fan

PHILADELPHIA, March 6 (UPI) -- A Philadelphia man Wednesday faced murder and related charges for allegedly shooting one man and wounding another in a crowd outside a rapper's tour bus.

Frank Briggs, 20, allegedly drove up to rap artist French Montana's tour bus when it was parked Thursday night near a hotel. He allegedly opened fire on the crowd, killing Jowann King, 26, of New York and wounding another man, 28, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

Police said Briggs is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, weapons violations and other related charges.

The Daily News said police have not commented on any motive for the shootings, but violence has a way of following Montana, whose real name is Karim Kharbouch.

The newspaper said Montana has bragged he survived a gunshot to his head and was found not guilty of the subsequent murder of the man who had shot him. In February a fan left a Montana show in Las Vegas and has been accused of the shooting death of a would-be rapper, Wayne Cherry, Jr.
