SHAWNEE, Kan., March 6 (UPI) -- Two middle-age women were found shot to death Wednesday afternoon on a park trail in Shawnee, Kan., authorities said.

Johnson County Sheriff's Deputy Rick Howell said a gun was found at the scene in Mill Creek Streamway Park and no suspects were being sought, The Kansas City Star reported.

The bodies were discovered shortly after 3 p.m. by a passerby, the sheriff's office said. It appeared the women had not been dead long.

Howell said the identity of the women and their relationship had not been determined. Investigators believed the women were linked to a car found in a park parking lot.
